  • Q. Can I get vet prescriptions online?

    A. If your veterinarian believes that your pet requires prescription medication, you can request a written prescription so you can order the medication online rather than picking them up in person. During our checkout process, you will then be prompted to provide a prescription which you can send in the post to: Numark Pharmacy 14-20 Field Street, Shepshed, Leicestershire.LE12 9AL

    Q. Can I get prescription medication without seeing a vet?

    A. You must consult your veterinarian. Since the law was changed in 2005, veterinarians must allow their patients to purchase medications from the supplier of their choosing. Your veterinarian will be aware of this process and will offer a prescription that has been signed upon request.

    Q. Will my GP write a pet prescription?

    A. Animals can only be prescribed medicine by veterinarians.

    Q. Can my Vet email you a prescription direct to you.

    A. Yes, we accept prescriptions if emailed direct from the veterinary practices email address. Emailed prescriptions which contain schedule 2 or 3 controlled drugs cannot be accepted

    Q. Can my prescription be repeated? A. For animals with ongoing medical needs, ask your vet for a prescription with 'repeats'. This will allow us to supply medication to you a number of specified times before needing to see a new prescription. This will also be a more cost-effective way of obtaining the medicines for your pet since only one prescription writing fee should be charged. Please note medicines which are classed as controlled drugs are not repeatable.

    Q. How long is a vet prescription valid for ?

    A. Typically veterinary prescriptions last for up to six months after the day it was signed. A veterinarian may request a shorter expiration date, but only for medical need. Prescriptions for medicines which are classed as controlled drugs such as Gabapentin, Diazepam only last for 28 days. If you are unsure of anything including pet drugs online or have problems getting the prescription to us, please get in touch (link to contact page) Q. Is it OK for a vet to supply a Human medicine for my animal? A. It is an offence to supply any medicinal product licensed for human use for administration to an animal other than in accordance with a prescription from a veterinary surgeon issued under the cascade where no appropriate animal medicine is available. The prescription must therefore specifically state that the medicinal product is for administration under the cascade.

Q I cannot find the medicine the vet has prescribed for my animal listed on your site ?

    A. If you are having a problem sourcing a human medicine for animal use please email or phone our pharmacists who will be able to advise and provide a quote for you if the medicine is available.

    Q. The quantity of medicine on the prescription differs to quantities shown on your website; How do I proceed?

    A. You can continue with your purchase if the quantity is below the amount quoted on the prescription and you believe the amount will be sufficient for the treatment of your animal. If the amount stated on the prescription is over our quoted quantities then please email or phone us and we will be able to provide you with a price quote and inform you how best to proceed.
